Since John Cena appeared on WWE Raw’s Netflix debut, reports said he would be in many WWE segments and have a busy schedule. But in reality, he has been gone for a month since Raw’s first show on Netflix.
Fans are already asking if Cena is fooling everyone with his farewell tour. But before getting a clear answer, Cena announced again that he could not continue his back-to-back WWE schedule because of a movie project.
Cena’s decision comes after an exciting run in WWE, with his last match at the 2025 Royal Rumble. Fans were amazed as the 16-time World Champion competed in what was supposed to be his final Royal Rumble match.
After his unexpected loss to Jey Uso, it seemed like he would become serious about his WWE farewell. But in the post-Royal Rumble press conference, he shared another disappointing update.
Cena confirmed that he is currently filming a movie and said, “And yes, I’m flying back to Hungary to film a movie. What I’m going to do is give my five other opponents one month to slander my name and bolster their self-confidence the best that I can.”
Cena is reportedly filming the upcoming Matchbox movie in Budapest, Hungary.
John Cena’s Royal Rumble loss generates mixed reactions from WWE community
The WWE Universe is buzzing with mixed reactions after John Cena’s shocking loss at the 2025 Royal Rumble. Many believed Cena was the favorite to win and get another shot at WrestleMania to become a 17-time WWE champion.
No one believed Jey Uso could win when only two wrestlers remained in the ring: John Cena and Jey Uso. But in a shocking moment, the “YEET” pulled off the victory, leaving Cena and the entire WWE Universe in disbelief.
While some fans are happy that Uso won as a deserving competitor, many are upset about how Cena’s Royal Rumble run ended. They hoped he would win his third Rumble, just like Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Id be lying if i said jey didnt deserve it but man this was not it i really thought they would have cena win 3 rumbles just like stone cold but they really fumbled i felt like jeys time wouldve been SummerSlam tbh this was Cenas ONLY time to do it https://t.co/N6ZBrT4nrP

#WWE let John Cena down with this one. Cena had the story and it was last #RoyalRumble and to go out to Jey Uso like this is very dissapointing. Jey had time to win next year's rumble while cena didn't 😡 Now what's next for Cena? 🤦♂️ Is he ever gonna break the record? pic.twitter.com/pWLLz3rPDo

I’m really proud of jey I am but I’m still in disbelief about john losing. Like I damn near cried when he got eliminated. This farewell tour isn’t off to a great start but I’ll keep hope alive that cena will be champ before his last match in wwe ✊

People have to get this fantasy booking out of their heads with Cena. He isn’t here to be superman like he was in the past. We all know this, but people don’t want to accept it. This rumble was unpredictable as all hell, but it’s the “worst ever” cuz him or punk didn’t win…
