“Josh Allen can’t do everything by himself”: Bills’ legend Jim Kelly sends stern message to team about QB’s workload

Even though the Buffalo Bills have a great chance to win the AFC Championship in the upcoming season, it will be no easy cookie as winning such events is easier said than done. While everyone is focusing on the performance of Josh Allen, Bills legend Jim Kelly responded to Allen’s detractors by stating the QB needs more support from the running back room.

‘The Alien’ is the first player in NFL history to have 100 passing touchdowns and 30 rushing touchdowns in his first four seasons, and he led the Bills to consecutive AFC East titles for the first time since the 1988-1991 seasons.

How is Josh Allen in the eye of Jim Kelly?

Recently, the hall of Fame shared his opinion on the ups and downs situation of the Buffalo Bills while speaking with Jackson Roberts of News 10 NBC.

The star athlete expressed his admiration for Josh, the first player to throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 750 in a single season, during his interview. Josh is already giving his all to keep the Bills ahead of the competition, according to Jim, so nobody can expect him to give his all for the Bills to win a championship.

“Josh can’t do everything by himself,” Jim said.

JK thinks the Bills are making the fullest extent of the quarterback’s abilities and advised them to let the running backs shoulder some of Josh’s responsibilities rather than placing undue pressure on him because it would be detrimental to his future and cause stress moving forward.

Jim concluded, “But you know what? When you’ve got a guy as good as Josh Allen, you tend to probably get a little greedy and want to use him more than you probably should.”

What is Kelly’s assessment of the Buffalo Bills roster?

According to the 63-year-old, the Bills are in crying need of a star running back, who has the agility to dump the ball without worrying about throwing it into danger. Devin is the name Jim chose because, in his opinion, he can establish himself as a fantastic running back for the Bills if used properly.

Devin Singletary had 177 carries for 819 yards and scored 6 touchdowns in 16 games in 2022 and has been a consistent presence in the backfield with over 150 rushing attempts in each season. The former Bills believe that another factor contributing to the Bills’ failure was their improper use of Singletary.

“I hope they find a way to get a star running back. But I always thought [Devin] Singletary was pretty good. I just didn’t think we used him enough.”

As per Kelly, the offensive line for the Buffalo Bills is now strong enough because the team has Ken here and is working hard to strengthen this lineup.

The Machine Gun never won the NFL championship game, despite leading the Buffalo Bills to a record-breaking four consecutive Super Bowl appearances. Now Kelly believes Allen has a chance to realize Kelly’s dream of winning the title.
