Stefon Diggs after weeks of negotiations was finally traded to the Houston Texans. Recently major changes have been made to his new contract by the Texans to retain the WR on a long-term contract.
However, Josh Allen, the Jaguars LB is not happy about this move as indicated by his recent social media activity.
Josh Allen upset with Bills’ Stefon Diggs trade
Josh Allen expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s recent trade decision. He liked a tweet that criticized the Jaguars’ lack of aggressive moves, contrasting it with the Texans’ boldness in acquiring Diggs.
The tweet expressed frustration with the Jaguars’ management and called for more decisive actions, including addressing contract issues, retaining key players like Josh, and making bold trades.
“This is my frustration with this @Jaguars Organization. We don’t go for the kill. Houston seen what they have and didn’t care about Draft Picks, money or personnel. You can say that about Tennessee to. But Houston put themselves as the front runners to beat KC. SCARED MONEY MAKES NO MONEY!. We have the QB, the Coach but we have a scary a** GM. Fix Cam’s deal, resign Josh and call MotherFing SAN FRAN!”
Josh Allen liked this tweet which means he is also not happy with his team’s failure to sign Diggs, who wasn’t on good terms with the Bills. The Houston Texans made significant offseason acquisitions, including Danielle Hunter, Joe Mixon, and Stefon Diggs. In contrast, the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offseason moves are perceived as less impressive. They failed to re-sign Calvin Ridley, who joined another AFC South rival, the Tennessee Titans.
Josh Allen’s actions suggest frustration with the Jaguars’ approach. He wanted Diggs to sign with the Jaguars and not with the Texans who void the WR’s final three years of contract extension.
Texans void Stefon Diggs’ final three years of contract extension
The Houston Texans have wiped out the final three years on Stefon Diggs’ contract. This move was taken to allow Diggs to become a free agent after this season.
The Texans also took the $3.5 million guaranteed to Diggs next season and moved it up into this season, giving him a raise and assuring him of $22.52 million in guaranteed money in 2024.
The WR was acquired by the Texans on Wednesday as they sent a 2025 second-round pick to Buffalo. After these adjustments, the team is expected to sign a long-term contract with Stefon Diggs after he becomes a free agent in 2025.
As far as Stefon Diggs’ performance is concerned, his production decreased following the first six games of the 2023 season. The WR averaged 41.0 receiving yards per game and had zero touchdowns in the last season with the Bills. But still, Stefon Diggs has been an exceptional player and is considered a valuable addition to the Texans.
