In the Week 18 game, the Seattle Seahawks emerged victorious against the Arizona Cardinals; however, it wasn’t enough for the Seahawks to make it to the playoffs. The Green Bay Packers’s victory over the Chicago Bears made sure that the Seahawks would be watching the playoffs from home.
After the match, an online drama took place after Seahawks players were seen smoking cigars. This led to a series of tweets from reporters, supporters, and former Seahawk players, as well as a quick anticipative response from Pro Bowl safety Julian Love.
Seahawks players spotted smoking cigars despite missing playoffs spot
After the game, a series of events followed for the Seahawk team. Gregg Bell of The News Tribune shared a video on X. Several Seahawks players were seen smoking celebratory cigars in the locker room. Bell’s caption read: “Cigars—but not playoffs—in Seahawks’ locker room after last-game rally win at Arizona.”
Bell noted that veteran players Jordyn Brooks and Bobby Wagner were not celebrating. Bell pointed to a response from former Seahawks player Jon Ryan, who commented, “The Seahawk way is different these days I guess.” The former Seahawk player seems filled with anger and disappointment for the youth of the Seahawks. It was only when Julian Love provided context that things became clear.
Julian Love reveals real reason for postgame celebrations
Julian Love anticipated and took the lid off the situation. Julian Love posted on X to inform people that they smoked cigars to celebrate the birth of their son. Love wrote on X that “Insinuating that we’re celebrating not making playoffs is weak Gregg. These cigars were given to me to celebrate the birth of my son & I waited until the end of the season to share a moment with my guys”.
Julian Love’s son was born on December 23, two weeks before the last game. He has not celebrated the birth of his son and has waited until the end of the season to share a moment with his team. The star safety added that the team was sharing a special moment to celebrate the birth of Love’s first child. Mixed emotions were clouded on X by the supporters and former Seahawk players.
