But unfortunate news surfaced on Thursday morning that the Minnesota Timberwolves key player will be out of action for an indefinite time due to a serious injury, according to NBA sources.
When will Karl-Anthony Towns return after surgery?
It was a major blow for the Timberwolves after finding out that the four-time all-star has a torn meniscus in the left knee, as reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania. But later, the NBA reporter, Adrian Wojnarowski, gave a statement in which he referred to the injury as “a meniscus injury.”
With a tiny bit of hope after Woj’s statement, there is still no guarantee of how much time it will take for Minnesota’s star player to recover from the injury, but according to the organisation, he will undergo surgery next week, and the re-evaluation will take place after four weeks.
Towns missed most of the 2022–23 season due to injury as well and came back to full health to compete this season, but things didn’t go according to plan for him and the team.
How did Karl-Anthony Towns tear his left meniscus?
The reason for the injury is still not clear to anyone, including Towns himself. His last match was on Monday against the Portland Trail Blazers, in which he only played for 21 minutes. He recorded 14 points and 4 boards.
Towns is averaging 22.1 ppg with 8.4 rebounds and 3 assists per game on 50.6 percent field goals. With the uncertainty about the injury, whether it is, in fact, a torn meniscus or just a meniscus injury, it is unlikely to assume a tentative return date for Towns. But once the reports come out, there is still a chance for Towns to return to the game during the early playoff run of the team.
With the regular season coming to an end, there couldn’t be a worse time for the Minnesota Timberwolves to lose one of their big men to a serious injury that may lead to a long absence for the player. The team has a certain playoff spot for them, but competing in the Western Conference is a hassle, especially with the unavailability of your key player.
