Kevin Durant Becomes 8th NBA Star To Hit 29,000 Points

The modern NBA Gem Kevin Durant has etched his name in NBA history by becoming the eighth player to reach 29,000 career points. He achieved this milestone during the Phoenix Suns’ 114-102 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on October 26, 2024.

Kevin Durant scored 31 points in the game and now boasts a total of 29,010 points over his 17-season career. With this outstanding record, he joined an NBA elite club that includes legends like LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, and Wilt Chamberlain. 

The 36-year-old is tenth overall on the combined NBA and AVA scoring leaderboard. Eighth is Julius Erving; Moses Malone comes in at ninth. He has maintained at least 20 points every season during his whole career and has remarkably averaged 27.3 points per game across 1,064 games.

Reflecting on his achievement, The 14-time All-Star credited his teammates and coaches for their support throughout his career. “I’ve got to give credit to the people who have helped me since I was a kid. Teammates who passed me the ball, set screens for me, coaches who drew up plays for me.”
