Kevin Durant joined the Suns in February earlier this year, in an attempt to compete for the championship alongside Devin Booker and there have already been reports that Durant is unhappy and discontented with the team.
Following his wonderful night of basketball, Kevin Durant took to Instagram to stand up for himself as he called out renowned NBA journalist Adrian Wojnarowski for spreading malicious information regarding the superstar’s tenure at the Phoenix Suns. A vocal and expressive player, the star wasted no time to express his feelings regarding the situation.
Kevin Durant has some choice words for Adrian Wojnarowski
The four-time scoring champ and one-time MVP winner did not mince any words when he addressed the reports from Wojnarowski which suggested that Durant was reportedly unhappy with the supporting cast given to him by the Phoenix front office.
Durant replied to a fan on Instagram as he wrote, “woj says somebody else “feels” that I’m frustrated and it turned into me being mentally checked out. This s–t crazy, these people can flat out lie on my name and make s–t up and you people will believe it but when my teammates and coaches speak on how I am as a teammate, u ignore it lol”.
Recently the Suns acquired shooting guard Bradley Beal to create a trio with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. However, in order to get the player, the Suns sacrificed their depth to create the financial space for the trades to go through which left the bench with only the minimum players the Suns could afford.
Durant’s time with the Suns has been underwhelming with a very slow start to the season and the Suns sit at the 10th seed with a 15-15 record in the Western Conference of the NBA. In the 26 games played for the Suns this season, he’s averaging 30.2 points per game while also having 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game. In the most recent game against the Rockets, the 6’10” player carried the Suns to victory with a casual triple-double.
The Suns will be eager to see Bradley Beal healthy on the court to help push the Suns further in their quest for their maiden NBA title. Alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, the addition of Beal should create a significant offensive unit for the Phoenix Suns.
Proposed trade sends KD to Lakers
Amidst rumors that superstar Kevin Durant is frustrated with his current team the Phoenix Suns, a proposed trade sends the two-time NBA champion to Los Angeles where he could share the court with famed center Anthony Davis and basketball maestro, Lebron James.
The Los Angeles too haven’t had the success they would’ve hoped for this season. Led by Lebron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers were absolutely unstoppable in the debut In-Season Tournament where they won the entire competition without a single loss.
7 games played. 7 games won.
However, they lost their rhythm and consistency once the tournament ended, constantly falling short off their targets and not performing to their glorious standards.
After their Christmas Day loss to the Celtics, Lebron James seemed agitated with the condition of the Lakers and brutally suggested that the Lakers had to make changes in order to compete with the teams at the higher level. Despite mesmerizing performances from the duo of LeBron and Davis, the Purple and Gold lay low in the standings and have a very sub-par record of 16-15.
The proposed trade would send Kevin Durant to the Lakers while the Suns would receive D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Taurean Prince, Max Christie, a 2029 first-round pick, and a 2030 first-round pick swap. While the trade would deplete the depth that the Lakers have, it would bring about substantial firepower through the addition of Kevin Durant.
It would most certainly provide Durant an outlet to push himself alongside Lebron James who is in the quest for his 5th NBA Championship in his 21st season.
