Kevin Durant, the “Slim Reaper” is undeniably one of the greatest scorers in NBA history. Despite playing 16 seasons, defenders have yet to find an effective way to prevent him from scoring. Guarding him is a nightmare, not only due to his height but also because of his exceptional skill set.
The Phoenix Suns lead by superstar Kevin Durant currently hold the top position in the NBA standings, while Steph Curry’s Golden State Warriors occupy the second position. Durant was impressed by Curry’s buzzer-beating brilliance against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Durant expresses amazement at Curry’s clutch performance
Durant was amazed by Curry’s awesome clutch performance. Steph scored 30 points and lead his team to victory. He delivered the game winning layup in the final few seconds. The game was notable for several late reviews, primarily involving Draymond Green. In the final few seconds, when Curry made the layup, Draymond made contact with the ring as the shot went in. Upon review, the referees determined that Green’s contact did not impact the path of the ball, and the basket was allowed.
Both teams exchanged baskets throughout the game, but the thunder were seemingly unable to miss. It’s not that the Warriors played bad defense, but even their good defensive possessions could not stop Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, and the rest of the Thunder’s explosive young team from scoring. During the first quarter, Dario Saric attempted three shots from beyond the arc and finished with a team-high 11 points, while Chris Paul provided a stabilizing presence.
After an exhilarating opening frame, the Warriors held a 38–33 lead. Saric ended the day with 20 points. Notably, throughout the entire game, Andrew Wiggins displayed increased aggression on the glass, which provided Golden State with multiple second-chance opportunities. With only a few minutes left in regulation, Thompson made the game-tying three-point shot, thanks to the Dubs’ ability to slow down the momentum. Thompson scored eighteen points with just ten field goal attempts.
How many seasons has KD played with Stephen Curry Warriors?
KD played with Stephen Curry’s Warriors for three seasons. He was twice named Finals MVP and contributed to the team’s two championship victories. If Kevin Durant hadn’t suffered a torn Achilles injury in Game 1 of the 2019 NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, the Warriors might have captured a third consecutive championship.
Despite Durant leaving the Warriors and Steph Curry, he still has love for the franchise and his former teammates. When asked about why he left the Warriors by Michael Lee of the Washington Post, he had said “It was another pivot. I just wanted to play ball somewhere else. But a lot of people see it as I’m chasing something. I want to wake up every day and do what I do. If we win, I know that stuff comes with me being the best that I can be.”
Fans can only speculate the number of championships the Warriors would have won if Durant had decided not to leave the team. What are your thoughts on Durant’s reaction to Curry’s buzzer beater Layup? Feel free to share with us in the comments below.
