The excitement for the upcoming NBA season can be seen within the basketball community and Nike is not letting this opportunity go to waste. With the new season on the horizon, the latest edition of Kevin Durant’s series of basketball shoes is set to hit the shelves.
Kevin Durant is one of the biggest names in the NBA with a huge following behind him. Nike signed the current Phoenix Suns star long back adding him to their already star-studded endorsement lineup. The KD series is one of the leading basketball shoes when it comes to sales. And with the latest release in the series, “Emotional Pathway” is expected to perform well in the market.
Nike release KD 16 “emotional pathway”
The newest inclusion to the already successful KD series of basketball shows is the “Emotional Pathway.” The model follows the N.Y vs. N.Y iteration build with a color scheme similar to the Aunt Pearl edition. With a mixture of refreshing purple, blue, and white across the upper part of the shoe, it represents a striking presence among other variants. The heel, parts of the midfoot, and the mudguard are all covered in rich purple, setting up a strong pillar for the rest of the design.
The zebra pattern graces the mesh base with two shades of blue adding more complexity to it. Dark blue shades grace the eyestay and tongue, while light blue can be seen on the midfoot cage that extends to the sole unit. The midsole consists of blue and white to give a serene balanced impression. To complete the look, a semi-translucent blue rubber outsole is used which promises amazing grip and looks great at the same time.
The KD 16 “Emotional Pathways” was released on 8th September 2023 and is available for purchase at the Nike store online and at selected retail outlets. It is priced at $150 with Men’s sizing available for now.
Durant signed a 10-year deal with Nike in 2014
Back in 2014, Kevin Durant signed his first contract with Nike which was a 10-year deal worth $250 million with a $50 million retirement package. The deal was going to expire in the 2024/25 season but with the success and popularity KD achieved, Durant became the third NBA player in 2022 to sign a lifetime deal with Nike joining the likes of LeBron James and Michael Jordan.
The terms of the contract were not made public, but it was estimated that it would be in the hundreds of millions territory. This deal is huge for Kevin Durant as it stands as proof of his status as one of the most popular and marketable athletes in the world. It also goes to show Nike’s faith in KD and his ability to continue being a successful player as well as a brand ambassador for a long time.
