The Phoenix Suns defeated the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night, improving their record to 12-8 this season. It was a fantastic win, but they faced a big setback when Kevin Durant had to leave the game early due to an injury.
Kevin Durant, who is the NBA’s 8th all-time leading scorer, suffered the injury with 3:51 remaining in the second quarter. He hurt himself after driving to the hoop and rolling his ankle. After receiving assistance from the medical staff, he was able to leave the court and proceed to the locker room.

Durant had a solid performance in his 16 minutes before exiting, with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 2-of-2 from beyond the arc, along with four boards and two assists.
The Suns had verified Durant would not be coming back by halftime. Since Durant was not playing, Grayson Allen took over, ensuring the Suns ultimately won the game. However, Durant’s status for Thursday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans is uncertain.
Suns’ head coach provides Kevin Durant’s injury update
The Phoenix Suns will play the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. Kevin Durant is listed as available for the game, but his injury is still uncertain. Coach Mike Budenholzer has an update on his condition.
Mike Budenholzer said Kevin Durant (13 pts in win over Spurs) will be re-evaluated on Weds morning before their 3-day road trip begins at Pelicans on Thurs. Budenholzer explained, “I think he stepped on somebody’s foot in transition, and I think at halftime it stiffened up. We will have to evaluate him again in the morning, see how he feels coming out of it, see how he does overnight. I don’t really know a whole lot more than the report at halftime.”
