Khabib Nurmagomedov is a name that is always going to be remembered as one of the best in the UFC. Even though he is retired now, the fighter from Dagestan has managed to engrave his name in the hearts of fans by defeating legends like Conor McGregor. Khabib has supposedly even fought against bears in his childhood.
Nurmagomedov retired from UFC with an undefeated record of winning all of his 11 fights in the octagon. After his last fight in 2020, “The Eagle” decided to retire even though he could have continued fighting. The biggest rivalry in his career was against Conor and their fight was one of the biggest spectacles which UFC hosted.
Khabib Nurmagomedov reveals his toughest opponent in UFC
Khabib has faced a plethora of opponents in his career. Some big names include Rafael Dos Anjos, Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, and Conor McGregor. After retiring, he made appearances in a number of interviews and podcasts. He also appeared in Mike Tyson’s podcast “Hotboxin.”
While on the podcast, the Dagestanian fighter was asked about the fighter whom he considers his most formidable opponent. Nurmagomedov replied that it was Justin Gaethje who hit him “like a truck.” Khabib explained that Justin is a good wrestler and Khabib knew that he wouldn’t let the Dagestanian wrestle that easily. That’s why he made Justin strike him. Nurmagomedov also said: “Nobody hit me harder than Justin Gaethje.”

The last time Khabib set foot in the octagon was in UFC 254. Nurmagomedov’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was an inspiration to him. His father was the one who got him into wrestling. After some complications, his father unfortunately passed away in Russia and that completely broke Khabib.
After his fight with Gaethje, “The Eagle” was interviewed in the cage where he said that he had given word to his mother that it would be his last fight. Without his father’s presence, Khabib was not interested in fighting in the cage ever again and he announced that he would retire from that moment onwards.
