The Mavericks’ last game against the Hornets left fans disappointed, as they lost and dropped to a 23-20 record. But the loss did not become the talking point; rather, the NBA community is pointing toward Klay Thompson, who failed to shine in the Sunday night game.
The Mavericks were already missing their star player, Luka Dončić, because of an injury, so they were hoping Klay Thompson would step up and help fill the scoring gap. But Thompson didn’t deliver.
While Kyrie Irving played great, scoring 33 points, and Daniel Gafford ignored trade rumors to put up 31 points, fans expected Thompson, a former Splash Brother, to do the same. Unfortunately, Thompson only managed to score seven points and only took five shots, of which he made three.
If Thompson had come close to Irving’s performance, the Mavericks could have won. Fans were left feeling disappointed.
