Nike has equipped Kylian Mbappe with a unique set of boots in celebration of the Frenchman for becoming Paris Saint Germain’s all-time top goalscorer.
Mbappe was at 200 goals, the previous record set by Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, but then scored a goal to become PSG’s all-time top scorer at 201 goals at the age of just 24. The record came as he scored in a 4-2 league win against Nantes. He was looking to have to wait for another match to break the record, but a 92nd-minute goal saved him the trouble of waiting.
The French star took 247 appearances to surpass the record after joining the Parisian giants in 2017 from Monaco for a fee of around 180 million euros. The previous record holder Edinson Cavani needed 301 matches in a seven-year playing career there.
Kylian Mbappe is one of the finest footballers in the world, so it’s no surprise that Nike created a special boot to honor his accomplishment.
Currently, the Nike Mercurial Superfly 9 Dream Speed 6 is worn by the Frenchman. Nike even made him a unique “France” pair for the most recent World Cup.
What are the new boots like?
Yet, the Nike x MBappe KM201 boots are a direct homage to his first goal with PSG. The striker donned the Nike Mercurial Vapor 11 against FC Metz in September 2017.
Mbappe’s Nike Mercurial Vapor 11 2017 boots are gold/yellow in color with a black logo. They have the number 201 on the sides to represent the striker’s goals for the club.
PSG’s signature blue and red Hechter stripe is also featured on the back of the cleats. The lettering indicating the matchup and date of Mbappe’s first strike for Paris is embedded.

Mbappe will debut these boots tonight against Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of the 16-second leg. PSG had lost the first leg at Paris 1-0. Mbappe will hope to overturn that deficit and what better way to score than with these new boots?
