Amid speculations that he will leave the club, Kylian Mbappe has now openly called his club Paris Saint Germain ‘a divisive team’.
Previously, Kylian Mbappe had sent a formal letter to the club, where he said that he will not be activating the clause to renew his contract for one more year. PSG is said to understand that Mbappe intends to leave the club. Though the French superstar himself did not say he wants to leave, just that he won’t be renewing his contract.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, the club had decided on an ultimatum. Either Mbappe has to sign a new contract with them or they will sell him to another club this summer. This is to avoid losing him on a free transfer next season. And now even PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has said out in the open that Mbappe has to leave or renew the contract.
Kylian Mbappe unleashes surprising criticism on PSG
In an interview with France Football, the French captain revealed some surprising criticisms of his current club.
The magazine asked the player if he can win the prestigious Ballon d’Or award at PSG one day. He said, “I think playing at Paris-SG doesn’t help much because it’s a divisive team, a divisive club. So, of course, it attracts gossip but it doesn’t bother me because I know what I’m doing and how I do it.”

This has understandably not gone well at the club, with reports from France saying that six players of PSG have contacted president Nasser Al Khelaifi over the comments. They are clearly angry at being called a divisive team, and they probably want the player out for criticizing the team and club.
It seems that Mbappe and PSG are in an open war, and it remains to be seen how the club responds to the criticism from one of their best players.
Is the Frenchman joining Real Madrid?
While Mbappe speaks of staying, it is not hard to see that almost everything points to an exit. The fact that he won’t renew his contract means Mbappe will eventually leave next summer on a free transfer. This is in a way, to force the club to sell him this summer and a very smart move from the player’s side.
According to Marca, PSG wants a fee between 150 to 200 million euros. Such a high fee is a very big expenditure for any club.
Since Kylian Mbappe is on the market technically, the most obvious possible destination is Real Madrid. Mbappe is a lifelong fan of the club, specifically of their legend Cristiano Ronaldo. It is reported that Mbappe’s dream is to play for Madrid one day and it could come true now. Rumors have persisted since 2017 that the club will buy the striker, with the transfer almost happening in 2022, but it has never been finalized.
It’s safe to assume that the club will do everything to sign Mbappe from PSG this summer. Negotiations are expected in the following weeks, as the deal will likely be complicated. They don’t have to worry too much about competition from other clubs as well, as Mbappe will probably not snub his dream club again.
