The Brooklyn Nets’ star point guard, Kyrie Irving, sent a shocking trade request to the franchise and left everyone stunned, even his teammates.
On Friday night, Kyrie’s trade request shattered the media bubble, and the NBA community was in a tizzy even the next day. After a rough patch, it seems the professional is settling in and improving his performance, so his move made the fans go bonkers.
In the mixed presentation of feelings, Kyrie’s teammates also took time to absorb the news. Nobody predicted such an action from him based on their accounts.
What did Kyrie Irving’s teammates say?
After learning about the recent development, Nets center Nic Claxton became perplexed. “I was taking a nap. And I looked in one of my group chats and I saw it and I was like, ‘Wow.’ Just caught me off guard. But it is what it is,” Nic expressed.
When asked about his opinion regarding the trade request, Nic said, “I just work here, at the end of the day. I just want to come out here and beat Washington and have fun in front of our fans.”
“I always respect his decision, whatever that may be. That’s my brother. And we just gotta roll with who’s here,” Claxton continued.

Royce O’Neale, Irving’s teammate, sounded similar as the 23-year-old center. “I was surprised by Irving’s trade request. I found out about it the same way everybody else did: Twitter,” Royce explained.
The Nets’ head coach, Jacque Vaughn, was also faced with an unexpected surprise. However, he maintained his professionalism by not being emotionally attached. “There’s a business side to this thing and there’s a human side to this thing. I elected to touch on the human side, check on him as an individual,” coach Jacque said.
The 30-year-old PG will be a free agent at the end of the season if the trade doesn’t go through before the February 9 deadline. Even before the trade request, the Los Angeles Lakers were in the lead for acquiring the star.
