Lakers and Clippers’ Saturday Games Reportedly Postponed Amid Los Angeles Wildfires

The uncontrollable wildfires in Los Angeles are once again disrupting NBA games. The Lakers vs Hornets game was already postponed, and now two Saturday games have been delayed too. This decision was made to keep players and fans safe.

Shams Charania of ESPN shared that coach J.J. Redick lost his home to the wildfires. The wildfires have also affected others in the NBA; Warriors coach Steve Kerr’s mother had to evacuate her home, and Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard stepped away to support his family.

With the wildfires still raging in Southern California, the NBA has postponed two games: the Lakers vs Spurs at Crypto.com Arena and the Clippers vs. Hornets at Intuit Dome. The league stated this ensures resources stay focused on wildfire efforts. New game dates will be announced later.

The announcement reads, “The National Basketball Association games scheduled for tomorrow between the San Antonio Spurs and Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena and between the Charlotte Hornets and LA Clippers at Intuit Dome have been postponed due to the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area. The dates for the rescheduled games will be announced at a later time.”

Lakers share emotional message on wildfire crisis

The Lakers sent a touching word about the horrific wildfires in Southern California that have affected their community. They detailed the effects on the squad and their loved ones. They also expressed deep sympathy for those impacted and gratitude for first responders.

They wrote, “We’re heartbroken for Los Angeles. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this unimaginable situation. And our gratitude is with the first responders and all of you who come together when we need each other the most. Tonight’s game will be rescheduled to focus on what matters most today. We’re with you, LA.”
