Lakers’ Coach Shares His Candid Thoughts On Bronny James’ Progress

With the new NBA season approaching, the focus isn’t on the results—it’s on seeing LeBron and Bronny James share the court in the Lakers’ purple and gold. Fans are super excited about this big moment. 

Even though Bronny might not be totally set for the season, JJ Redick is bringing him into a few games because fans are asking for it. He also opened up about what he thinks of Bronny’s progress.

Redick believes Bronny has a lot of potential and wants to help him through the G League to become a player who can help the Lakers win in the future. In a recent interview, the head coach said, “I think Bronny is a young guy; I’m very high on him as a basketball player.”

He continued, “He’s kind of like the first player that we get to mold and help develop.” So we’re going to look at the G League as a tool in our player development system.”

 The 19-year-old will play most of his season with the South Bay Lakers in the G League. Redick said the G League should be used to help NBA and G League teams work together. He thinks the G League is a great place for young players like Bronny James to grow and learn.

The 40-year-old said, “Bronny has earned this through hard work…his base level of feel, athleticism, point-of-attack defender, shooting passing, there’s a lot to like about his game” and added that he’s “going to have an opportunity to become an excellent NBA player.”
