Lakers’ Olivari Has Emotional Reaction After Meeting Stephen Curry

In the Lakers’ last preseason game against the Warriors, Coach JJ Redick used only reserve players to see how they performed. Quincy Olivari seized the opportunity, leading the game with an impressive 22 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. His outstanding play impressed everyone, as did his emotional confession after the game, where he shared how much he looks up to Stephen Curry.

Like many, Quincy Olivari grew up idolizing Stephen Curry. But unlike most, he met his hero after the Warriors’ preseason game against the Lakers. He showed Curry a video from years ago when Curry signed his jersey.

Interestingly, Olivari wore his own NBA shirt while they talked, since he is now on the Lakers’ main squad. During the post-game press conference, the rookie guard broke down in tears as he shared this special moment with his idol.

He said about his moment with Stephen Curry, “First thing he told me was, ‘I’m a big fan of your game.’ And truth be told, I’m a big fan of him. I had his jersey. He signed it twice. I used to sleep under that jersey. I just wanted to be like him so bad.”

The 23-year-old added, “So just to be able to meet him and him have some respect for me, and then us talk in the back. He gave me his shoes and signed them. That meant the world to me. My dad knows, my mom knows. It just means a lot. I don’t know, it just means a lot.”

Stephen Curry and LeBron James bring excitement for the newcomer

LeBron James gave Quincy Olivari a shout-out after the announcement of his two-way contract. The four-time NBA champion posted a message on his Instagram story that read, “YEEEEAAAAHHHHH Q!!!!!” Congrats kid,” to create a special moment for the young talent.

But Olivari’s day got even better when he had an emotional encounter with Stephen Curry. A few moments after sharing his admiration for Steph in a press conference, Curry posted a photo of their interaction on his Instagram, captioning it, “Real as they come.”
