Lakers star LeBron James pursues scoring record vs Thunder in NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s presence

Legends always do motivate their upcoming contenders. Recently, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did the same thing for LeBron James and anticipated seeing another milestone.

LeBron James is just 35 points behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time scoring record of 38,387, and Abdul-Jabbar is set to visit Tuesday night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

When it was LeBron James’ birthday in December, Abdul-Jabbar tweeted his support for James to exceed him by saying:

“I’ve been carrying the torch as record holder for 38 years,” Abdul-Jabbar stated in late January. “I’m excited and relieved to pass it along to the next worthy recipient. LeBron earned it, and I hope he carries it even longer than I did.”

The NBA’s all-time scoring leader will be dethroned soon. There would be no more fitting setting for the torch to be transferred than in Los Angeles, where both men have performed for the Lakers.

James has been named NBA Finals MVP four times, regular-season MVP four times, and has been selected to 19 All-Star Games during the course of his career. He has won four championships with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James-Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the greatest legends of all time to represent the NBA universe. It’s very sweet moment when a legend supports another legend for breaking another milestone.
