Roberto De Zerbi touted as next Chelsea manager replacing Mauricio Pochettino
Speculation suggests that a series of poor performances has brought Mauricio Pochettino’s job under scrutiny. The club is now on the verge of finding a potential replacement for Pochettino, with Italian Roberto De Zerbi being viewed as the ideal candidate. De Zerbi currently manages Brighton and has completely transformed the team since Graham Potter left for Chelsea.
Brighton has been in fine form under De Zerbi, winning 37 matches in 79 games and earning 1.62 points per match. After just 8 months in charge, he guided the team to their first-ever European competition. De Zerbi’s attacking style of play and tactical knowledge are often applauded by some great names in football.
While, on the other hand, Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino is in a disastrous state. Chelsea currently sits 11th in the table, having won only 11 out of 27 matches this season, with an average of only 1.44 points per match. Chelsea has also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup after a promising run to the final. Despite this run, Pochettino has not been able to meet the expectations set before the start of the season.
However, Chelsea is not the only team monitoring De Zebri as next manager. The Italian is also a top name on the list to become the next Liverpool manager after Jurgen Klopp announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.
Mauricio Pochettino spotted at Brighton game
De Zerbi’s Brighton hosted Roma in the Europa League Round of 16, where an intense match was played. Brighton won the game but lost in terms of aggregate.

Even though the purpose behind the presence of Chelsea manager and the sporting director is not revealed. However Reports suggest a potential scouting purpose amidst striker woes.
According to Goal, Chelsea is targeting the Irish striker Evan Ferguson, as their current strikers Nikolas Jackson and Broja haven’t been able to live up to the standards. While Chelsea targets the Irish striker, their pursuit extends beyond a single acquisition. In recent years, Chelsea and Brighton have shared good terms when exchanging players.
In 2023, Moises Caicedo paved his way towards Stamford Bridge at an hefty fee. Even the former Brighton manager, Graham Potter has fancied Stamford Bridge in the past. With the future of Mauricio Pochettino remains uncertain, it would be interesting to see how he address the current situation.
