After Mason Greenwood’s and Antony’s controversies, Manchester United’s streak of bad luck continues. Greenwood was accused of assault by his girlfriend back in January 2022. Greenwood’s problems were not even completely resolved when the team’s winger Antony got into a similar situation. Manchester United was trying to cope with the loss of these two players when Luke Shaw sustained a muscle injury putting him out indefinitely.
Following the situation, the Red Devils have had a poor start to the Premier League. They are already number 13 on the table, and losing one player after the other is not going to help them be the best in England. To mitigate this, manager Erik Ten Hag has reportedly set his eyes on Ryan Bertrand as Luke Shaw’s replacement.
Manchester United linked with Ryan Bertrand
Manchester United still has players like Diogo Dalot in its arsenal that can be used in place of Shaw but the club is still looking for another player that can fit the role. Names like Jonny Evans and Ryan Bertrand are on the table. Out of the two, the transfer of Bertrand looks more probable as the team has already made contact with his representatives. Bertrand has tons of experience in the Premier League playing for clubs such as Southampton, Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Leicester City.
Since the start of his career, Ryan has made 262 appearances in the Premier League. The 34-year-old is currently without a club after his contract ended with Leicester in June. He is currently training with his former club Chelsea’s loan development squad. According to reports the club plans to sign him for a short contract and use him as their left back till Luke Shaw recovers.
Update from Italy on Sofyan Amrabat’s transfer
Another player Manchester United has been interested in all summer is Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat. The Moroccan is near the end of his contract and the Reds need him to strengthen their midfield control. Clubs such as Liverpool are also interested in the player, and United needs to act quickly if they want to sign him.
Amrabat was left out of the squad to face Rapid Vienna in the Europa Conference League. Fiorentina is ready to hear offers from other clubs and will be willing to sell the player for a bid of 20 to 25 million pounds. “If there’s someone who isn’t happy, we can satisfy him between now and the end of the transfer window,” said Fiorentina chief Joe Barone.
