LaVar Ball drops bombshell proposal for LeBron James’ son Bronny to pursue basketball in Australia’s NBL

LaVar Ball, the outspoken father of basketball players Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo Ball, has proposed LeBron James’ son, Bronny James, consider playing basketball in Australia’s basketball league instead of attending college in the United States.

Bronny recently played in the McDonald’s All-American game as the only uncommitted player for the 2023-24 season and scored 15 points on 5-for-8, shooting from the 3-point range, albeit his West team lost to the East at 109-106.

The four-star prospect became one of the newest student-athletes to sign with Nike in October 2022 and ranks first as a NIL earner with an estimated $7.2 million valuation.

The 18-year-old played his final high school basketball game with Sierra Canyon this month but he will not be eligible for the NBA draft for another year.

What did LaVar Ball say about the career goal of the son of LeBron James?

With several routes to the league, Bronny can either spend at least one year in college or play professionally in the States or overseas, and undoubtedly he will carry the limelight wherever he goes.

LaVar Ball opened up to Sporting News Australia about Bronny as revealed following LaMelo’s footstep to Australia’s basketball league would be the wisest decision for the junior James.

“A lot of people going to want to see LeBron’s son do good, and a lot of them going to want to say, ‘He can’t play against no grown men. It’s better over here (in Australia). Why? Because you’re playing against grown men and you’re getting paid”, Ball stated.

LaMelo’s father thinks Brony should stop wasting time in class trying to pass a chemistry test if he is serious about pursuing a career in sports,

“If you want to play basketball and you really that dude, why am I sitting in class trying to pass a chemistry test? I don’t want to play no chemistry. I don’t want to practice no Spanish. I want to wake up, go practice, go back to sleep, go practice, have a game, practice. That’s all I want to do. I don’t want to be like, ‘Hey, I’ll meet you in the student union for study hall”, he added.

It remains to be seen whether Bronny James will take Ball’s suggestion seriously, however, the idea of a top prospect playing in Australia’s basketball league is certainly an intriguing one. The young child of LeBron has still a long way to go should he want to uphold his father’s legacy.
