The Los Angeles Lakers pushed the Phoenix Suns hard on Monday night but lost 109-105, marking their first defeat of the season. LeBron James had a poor game, going 3-for-14 from the field and scoring only 11 points. He acknowledged his lackluster performance and shared his reasons for not impacting the game like he usually does.
This game was one of LeBron’s worst performances in recent memory. After the game, he informed the reporters that his illness hindered his performance, which significantly contributed to the team’s loss.
King said, “I’ve been better. You’re hearing my voice.” Despite this, the team did some excellent things during the game. The Lakers’ season began on a high note with a hectic four-game streak. Even though he seems to be moving at a slower pace, LeBron has participated in every game.
He is the third most involved player on the team behind Anthony Davis and Austin Reaves, suggesting they want him to do more than score.
Coach JJ Redick takes responsibility for Lakers’ loss to Suns
Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ 109-105 loss to the Phoenix Suns, head coach JJ Redick took full responsibility for the team’s performance. Despite building an 18-point lead early in the game, the franchise struggled in the second quarter, managing only 14 points, which allowed the Suns to make a comeback.
Reflecting on the game, Redick said, “If there’s one thing to nitpick, it’s probably me. We should never have a 14-point quarter. That’s on me.”
Lakers’ insider Jovan Buha claims that after their 14-point effort, coach JJ Redick became angry with his players in the locker room.
It was the moment of the second quarter, and the Suns were ahead 25–14 over the Lakers. The team only made 6 out of 22 shots, and James and Davis didn’t score until the end of the quarter.
