Following the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time World Champion, extended his poor start to the season, finishing at P7 at the Sakhir Circuit. His underwhelming performance has now carried into the Saudi grounds, evident in his FP1 and FP2 results of the Saudi Arabian GP.
However, aside from his struggles on the track, Lewis Hamilton is also making headlines for a ‘little message’ that was displayed on his Mercedes W15 during the FP3 session.
What does Lewis Hamilton’s “All it takes is all of us” really mean?
The Formula 1 authorities has come under a lot of heat due to its ‘loose handling’ of Christian Horner’s controversy, which resulted in the Team Principal being cleared of all accusations, while the female employee was suspended by Red Bull. This incident has been something that the F1 drivers has widely distanced themselves from.
However, Lewis Hamilton, who is often known as a ‘role model’ in the F1 world, is not one of those drivers, and has now shown keen interest in upholding the values of F1. This is crystal clear in his latest ‘rebellious’ act, where he put forth a “All it takes is all of us” message for the world to see.
Hamilton stuck this message at the back of his steering wheel, showing support to the F1 fans’ ongoing movement against Christian Horner’s controversy. This online movement carries the “We race as one” hashtag in support of the female employee, who got suspended by Red Bull, and has got over 20,000 posts recently.
Lewis Hamilton’s “All it takes is all of us” message highly shows that he stands united in full support of the fans’ movement. It also clearly hints at his support for the ‘suspended’ female employee at Red Bull. These strong words come after the Briton previously stated that the controversy “has not been handled well”.
Hamilton put forth this message during the FP3 session at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, where the ‘disappointing’ flaws of his Mercedes W15 was on full display.
Lewis Hamilton highlights yet another Mercedes W15 flaws
Lewis Hamilton was clearly seen struggling during the FP and qualifying sessions of the 2024 Saudi Arabian GP, which is highlighted in his ‘unsatisfying’ results- a P8 spot on the qualifying round with a lap time of 1min 28.994s.
In the post-qualifying interview, he revealed the flaws of his Mercedes W15 machine that he’s struggling with since the beginning. Stressing on the W15’s ‘bouncing’ nature during the first lap, he quoted, by saying, “Unfortunately, the bouncing is still there. It makes it very, very, very difficult to push through that for a session. That’s why we were so slow in that first sector.”
The ex-World Champ has also previously struggled due to the W15’s ‘bouncing’ issue, and switched to bigger front wing in the FP3 and qualifying session. However, from what it appears to be, the ‘bouncing’ nature of the W15 still remains unresolved.
Lewis Hamilton will start from P9 of the starting grid today at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Is this the start of Hamilton taking a stand against the ongoing issue at F1? Can Mercedes solve the W15’s ‘bounciness’ before the Saudi Arabian GP today? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
