Lightweight champ Devin Haney arrested on felony weapon possession charges, released on $35K bail

According to TMZ Sports, Devin Haney, the lightweight boxing champion, was arrested on Thursday in Los Angeles. The arrest came after police pulled over a vehicle in which Haney was a passenger, citing failure to signal and an unsafe lane change.

During the stop, officers discovered a semi-automatic handgun beneath the driver’s seat, with no one taking ownership of the weapon. As Haney is the registered owner of the car. He was subsequently taken into custody on a felony charge of possessing a concealed weapon.

The 24-year-old boxer was released on Thursday morning after a $35,000 bail. This could come as a blow to the boxer’s reputation who solidified his standing as one of the world’s premier pound-for-pound boxers with a unanimous decision victory over Vasiliy Lomachenko in May.
