Lionel Messi hits new record with 94th minute free kick goal to secure victory for Inter Miami vs Cruz Azul

Argentine Superstar Lionel Messi made his debut for his new club Inter Miami on Sunday. Miami’s match was a league cup game against MLS side Cruz Azul in their home stadium. The tickets were sold out and there was an electric atmosphere in the stadium.

There were many superstars and popular people in attendance to grab a look at the little magician in the pink jersey. David Beckham, LeBron James, and IShowSpeed were some of the other athletes and popular individuals present in the stadium. 

The game was important to the Herons, particularly in order to secure further qualification for League Cup. It was the first time the Magic City saw their latest signings Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets play for the MLS side. The game ended with Inter Miami winning and videos were captured of David Beckham being emotional as well. The crowd was also jubilant due to Inter Miami’s win with a majority of the stadium colored pink.

The seven times Ballon d’Or winner was subbed onto the pitch by his manager Gerard Martino in the second half of the game. The game had 3 goals in and was tied at 1-1 when Lionel Messi made his entry onto the pitch. Robert Taylor opened Miami’s account for the season by netting in just before the half-time whistle, but later Cruz Azul equalized via Uriel Antuna. 

With the game equally poised at 1-1 in the dying embers, Inter Miami was awarded a free kick 30 yards out from goal in prime Messi territory. The little magician stepped up to take the free-kick and there was a silence throughout the crowd. Lionel Messi rolled back the years and curved the ball into the back of the net, ending with the stadium erupting with ecstasy. It was Messi’s 62nd freekick in his career with the mercurial forward having an epic conversion ratio from set-pieces.

Lionel Messi has a habit of setting and breaking records as a regular course of action in his career. With his debut goal for Inter Miami, the 2022 World Cup-winning captain broke yet another record by becoming the first player to score a free-kick on his debut. The astounding free kick was just a taste of what Messi has to offer. 

Lionel Messi is currently FC Barcel0na’s all-time top scorer and used to keep the crowd on their feet throughout his time at the club. The same continued during his time at PSG, and now, it looks like he will keep the Miami crowd on their tips as well.
