Lionel Messi is back on the Paris Saint-Germain training grounds after the Argentinian had been suspended by the club for two weeks following unauthorized travel to the Middle East.
The seven times Ballon d’Or winner had initially been handed a two-week ban by Paris Saint-Germain after Messi made a business trip to Saudi Arabia following PSG’s 3-1 home loss against Lorient on April 30. The ban would exclude Messi from participating in training as well, on top of revoking his salary for the time period.

Messi has since appeared on a video, openly apologizing to the club and teammates for his behavior. The 35-year-old Argentinian said: “Honestly, I thought we were going to have a day off after the game like we did in previous weeks. I had this trip organized which I had canceled already; I could not cancel it again. I want to say sorry for what I did. I’m waiting to hear what the club wants to do with me.”
It seems like Messi’s apology has been approved by the PSG board members, as he is back in training. The 2022 World Cup-winning captain was seen training with his teammates on Monday.
Messi could potentially return to play in PSG’s home game against Ajaccio later today. Winning the championship could be Messi’s final act at PSG, as his contract is about to expire.
The 35-year-old’s future has been the focus of much discussion over the past week following the suspension. According to Spanish reports, Lionel Messi will play for Saudi club Al-Hilal in the upcoming season after reaching an agreement on a £260 million-per-year contract.

No decisions would be made until the current season was over, according to Messi’s father Jorge, who denied that any agreement had been reached with another club.
In August 2021, after Barcelona’s financial woes became too much to bear, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner moved to Paris Saint-Germain. Messi’s been heavily linked with his former club to make a fairytale return to the club. But, despite Barcelona’s interest in re-signing him this summer, it remains to be seen whether a contract can be reached that complies with La Liga’s financial fair play rules.
