Lionel Messi nominated for FIFA’s Best Male Player award for 2022 following World cup win joined by Karim Benzema, PSG mate Kylian Mbappe

Lionel Messi is nominated for FIFA’s Best Maler Player award as his dream season continues for Argentina and PSG while his club teammate Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema are among the nominees.

The former Barcelona maestro has completed his trophy cabinet after winning the FIFA World Cup 2022 in a heroic manner and the 35-year-old and seven times Ballon d’Or winner is at the heart of everything for Argentina during the campaign.

Messi was named player of the tournament after netting seven times for his country and providing further three assists to his name. It was Messi’s second time winning the individual award after previously winning it in 2014.

Kylian Mbappe simply stunts the world following his dazzling performance during the World Cup campaign as some claimed he single-handedly carried Les Bleus to almost victory.

Mbappe won the Golden Boot award after scoring eight goals in this Qatar edition of the World Cup. The Frenchman achieved a hat-trick in the final despite being on the losing side further pointing towards to his contribution.

Karim Benzema was initially part of the French Squad but failed to participate in the World Cup following his injury prior to the beginning of the tournament but was on another level for Real Madrid in club competitions.

Benzema won the Ballon d’Or recently and helped Real Madrid to win both the La Liga and UEFA Champions League trophy. The Frenchman was also the top scorer in both of the competitions justifies his selection among the best.

Messi and Mbappe will be fighting their round of 16 clashes against Bayern Munich on February 14 and Karim Benzema is now facing the race to be fit for their clash against Liverpool on February 21.

Who will end up being the winner will be interesting as Lionel Messi is eyeing to achieve the feat for the second time in his career while Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema will be hopeful to deny the Argentine the honor.
