All eyes are on Lionel Messi and his new club Inter Miami as his official unveiling is just a few days away. The Argentine made the shocking move to the MLS last summer despite having offers from his former club Barcelona on the table. He also had his chance to become the highest-paid footballer ever, but ultimately decided to turn down offer from a Saudi club and join the David Beckham-owned MLS side.
While his decision has been lauded by many as he potentially could own some part of the new club he plays for, Messi broke Barcelona’s fans’ hearts by shattering their dreams of watching him play for the Catalan club again. Their loss, however, is the MLS’ gain.
Thanks to Messi’s decision, the MLS will attract global attention now more than ever. He will also draw more European stars to the league, just as Cristiano Ronaldo is doing in Saudi Arabia, where he currently plies his trade. And, with how things are set up, it seems like Messi’s unveiling will be a grand one.
Lionel Messi to potentially appear in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final halftime
Inter Miami and the MLS are ensuring the unveiling ceremony of their new star Lionel Messi will be the best the league has ever seen, and rightly so. The former PSG star is coming to the league on the back of winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina last December.
He has also won a record seven Ballon d’Or awards, the most of any player in the history of football. So, for all it’s worth, Messi will be the most talked about player in the history of the MLS for years to come.
Lionel Messi’s presentation as an Inter Miami player could be broadcast at half-time of the Gold Cup final on Sunday.
MLS is in discussions with CONCACAF, Fox and Univision to air a portion of the presentation, sources tell @FelipeCar and @PaulTenorio.https://t.co/pndl2HQELk

The Athletic reported yesterday that the MLS is discussing with CONCACAF, Univision, and Fox to broadcast a portion of Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami unveiling at halftime of the Gold Cup final. This may even be more historic if the USMNT manages to beat Panama on Wednesday to book a spot in the final of this year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.
David Beckham helps create Lionel Messi mural before Inter Miami debut
David Beckham is doing all he can to make Messi stay at the club he co-owns as comfortable as possible. The Manchester United legend has taken some time off to help create a mural of the World Cup winner in the city of Miami, something Victoria Beckham is proud of.
Lionel Messi and his family will be happy to see his new club making this much effort to make his time in the United States a good one. At the end of his stay in the city of Miami, maybe Messi will not only have a mural to his name – it may be something of far more importance.
Messi’s time at the MLS will bring huge success in all senses. How do you think the Argentine will fare in the US?
