On Monday, the disappointing news that Christian Wood would miss eight weeks of action after knee surgery hit Lakers fans hard. After a successful arthroscopic treatment, Wood’s left knee is back to normal.
Sadly, this implies the power forward will most likely miss the start of the 2024-25 season, including the opening game against the Timberwolves on October 22.
Wood made his Los Angeles Lakers debut last season, but he missed 50 games after knee surgery in March. Now that the operation has been announced, it is official that he will once again miss several crucial games for the franchise.
While sharing his medical update, Lakers reporter Mike Trudell shared, “Christian Wood underwent a successful arthroscopic surgical procedure on his left knee today. The procedure was performed by Dr. Kristofer J. Jones at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Wood will be reevaluated by team doctors in approximately eight weeks.”
Wood hurt his knee at the end of last season and said he would stay healthy for the Lakers this year, but that’s already off the table. His contributions to the team will now depend on how quickly he recovers.

He posted, “Damn.. I was just feeling like my old self again and was in peak shape … Minor setback for a Major comeback, and to my fans, don’t stop believing in me.”
