The Dallas Mavericks finished their season just outside of play-in consideration, and their star guard, Kyrie Irving, is set to hit free agency in the coming offseason.
The picture turned upside down in just two months after Kyrie joined the Mavericks from Brooklyn. The Mavericks were the fifth seed when the trade happened in February, but in the end, the Nets qualified for the playoffs, whereas his new team got out of the competition.
Like pouring water on a drowning mouse, the NBA is now investigating intentional tanking in the game of Mavericks vs. Bulls that seemingly sealed the fate. The maverick benched several stars while giving Luka Doncic only 13 minutes of game time, and they lost the game.
Following the loss, another star guard Luka appeared at a press conference and opened up about the current situation regarding the eight All-Stars’ future in Dallas. “I mean, yeah. I think it’s a great fit. Obviously, people are going to say no,” the Slovenian said.
“I mean, I look at the results we’re having, but you know, like I said, chemistry and relationships take time. I wish he can still be here,” the 24-year-old added.
Luka Doncic was asked if he plans to assist the Dallas Mavericks in their efforts to re-sign Kyrie Irving in free agency.

However, the fans on the other hand took the comment from a different perspective and started to criticize him.
What are the fans’ reactions to Doncic’s comment on Kyrie Irving?
Initially, things were going smoothly for the Mavericks after the 31-year-old joined them, but the honeymoon period didn’t last long. The duo couldn’t hack much in the games as was expected from them, and the fans didn’t appreciate any issues between the two best guards in the league.
“Chemistry and relationships take time—how to interpret this?” A fan raised the question.

Another fan wrote, “‘He just wants peace’ is code for he just wants a max deal and nobody to bother him about winning or even showing up to play.”

@1053SS I remember when you said the Lakers were done. I remember when you said the Lakers wouldn’t make the playoffs. Do you? 😬💀

The netizen can’t interpret Doncic’s comment as it may be, but there are some underlying issues that can’t be overlooked. It seems the EuroLeague MVP became annoyed at the recent performance of the teams and might be looking for a trade request in the next season.
