However, the homecoming didn’t go as planned after the Portuguese sensation complained about the facilities and development of the club, and obviously, the breakdown of the relationship with manager Erik Ten hag played a huge part.
“The progress was zero Since Sir Alex [Ferguson] left, I saw no evolution in the club. Nothing had changed. He [Ferguson] knows better than anybody that the club is not on the path they deserve to be. He knows. Everyone knows.”- Ronaldo told Piers Morgan in his famous interview.
“The people who don’t see that, it’s because they don’t want to see. They are blind. I think the fans should know the truth. I want the best for the club. This is why I come to Manchester United.”- the five-time Balon d’Or winner further added.
Ronaldo believed that Man Utd has fewer facilities in comparison with other top clubs like Man City, Arsenal, and Liverpool as the hierarchy of the club never focused on the importance of training grounds.
“You have some things inside that don’t help (us) reach the top level as City, Liverpool, and even now Arsenal. A club with this dimension should be top of the tree in my opinion and they are not, unfortunately.”- Ronaldo re uttered.
After a long period of the ruling, Glazers have finally decided to sell the club while there are few heavy contenders to buy the club and the main target will be the investment in the training facilities.
