Bernardo Silva is a crucial member of the Manchester City team. In his years at the Etihad, the versatile Portuguese mid-field maestro has amassed 11 major honours and scored several key goals in significant duels like derbies and Champions League clashes.
Pep Guardiola commending his abilities and emphasizing his crucial role in the team, says, “[He is] one of the best players I have ever seen in my life.” Hence, it is no surprise that Manchester City wants Bernardo Silva to commit to a new deal amidst interests from Barcelona and Saudi Arabia.
City to tie down Bernardo Silva amid PSG, Barcelona speculations
Barcelona, PSG, and Al Hilal are all lined up for Bernardo Silva’s signature. The 28-year-old playmaker has demonstrated how valuable he can be in the mid-field of any elite team. Hence, Manchester City is trying to entice the player with a huge wage and a contract renewal.
Barcelona has expressed a concrete interest in the player, especially since they have been able to land their other Manchester City target, Ilkay Gundogan. In a bid to further fortify his team in the middle of the park, Xavi, when asked about his interest in Bernado Silva, said:
“Yes, Bernardo was tempted to join us last summer. It’s normal; players are always open to joining Barca. Obviously, Bernardo would be an excellent signing; that would be fantastic, but he’s a Man City player. It’s very difficult.”
PSG’s interest in the player is also registered. Since Luis Campos joined PSG as the new sporting director, the Portuguese magnifico has been his priority target. Last summer, the club was under a financial constraint; hence they could not bid for the player despite his intention to leave City. However, the Ligue 1 champions have expressed their concrete interest again.
Manchester City is determined to keep the player and commit him to a new contract which will see him earn £300,000 weekly. It is significantly less than Al Hilal’s £500,000-per-week offer, but it is also in a league that is a far-cry from European football’s quality.

Silva’s Community Shield involvement points toward imminent renewal
Manchester City, the 2023 treble winners, lost to Arsenal on penalties in the FA Community Shield on Sunday. However, Bernardo Silva shone for Manchester City in the mid-field.
Pep Guardiola says it is sad enough that Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez are gone; “We lost two incredible players for us, Ilkay and Riyad. In the last seasons, they were massively important, incredible, goals and assists, and personalities in the biggest stages and important games.”
After the game, Pep Guardiola expressed his desire to keep Bernardo at the club: “And regarding Kyle and Bernardo, they’re such important players for us……We want him to stay because they want to stay. We will do everything. It’s not like ‘Gundo,’ where his contract is finished. We will do everything. To replace these two players is so difficult.”
Despite Pep’s strong desire to keep these players, he will not stop them if their desire is to leave the club. Hence Nicolo Barella is a prime target replacement for Bernardo Silva if he leaves the club.
