Manchester United have had an overall disappointing season so far, but after their win against Chelsea, many would believe that there might be good days ahead. The Red Devils beat the Blues 2-1 on Wednesday in a game which looked very sloppy and average, quality wise. Nevertheless, it seems to be a welcome three points for United.
However, in hopes of turning things around for the second half of the season, Manchester United would look to tweak a few things in the squad. While they look to get reinforcements in the January transfer window, the option of offloading a few players to make room for the incoming ones could also be considered. Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varance and Casemiro are seemingly on the list to be sold in January.
United shakes up squad with Sancho, Varane, and Casemiro on market
Manchester United would desperately want Champions League football next season, after being on the brink of elimination due to poor performances this season. The winter transfer window comes at the right time for them, as they look to shake things up a bit in the squad.
Jadon Sancho, who has been publicly criticized by manager Erik ten Hag, is almost surely leaving Old Trafford in January after his relations with the manager turned sour. Sancho got axed from the team WhatsApp group and is yet to feature for the team in any game this season.
However, reports about considering offers for Raphael Varane and Casemiro would raise a few eyebrows. Varane has been absent most of the times this season, and United could cash in on him, despite Ten Hag wanting to continue with the former Real Madrid defender.
Similarly, in order to make room for new players and trimming the wage bill a bit, Manchester United could offload Casemiro too, who has been scouted by teams from Saudi Arabia.
Erik ten Hag denies crisis talk surrounding Manchester United’s current situation
Manchester United seem to have bounced back after beating Chelsea, and the atmosphere inside the club seems somewhat better. Reports earlier stated that Ten Hag had lost 50% of the United dressing room after repeated squad issues and disappointing results.
However, he has now come out to deny any crisis talk and has reiterated that there is no crisis in Manchester United right now.
“Crisis? Not for us. We keep calm. The team is in a good direction. It is not a frustration but we could have made our life easier [by scoring more]. We were very dynamic, proactive and brave and we are pleased with that”, Ten Hag stated after the Chelsea game.
