Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma has been the talk of the town for some time now. Last season, he contributed 10 goals and eight assists in 42 appearances across all competitions for Brighton. Thanks to his stellar performances, the Japanese winger is attracting attention from big clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal.
Initially, it was thought that Mitoma would make a switch to FC Barcelona, and the Catalan giants would use Ansu Fati as part of the deal. However, now that Brighton have signed Ghanaian teenage winger Osman Ibrahim, Mitoma’s switch to Barcelona may not be realized anymore.
Kaoru Mitoma reportedly attracting interest from PL giants
The 26-year-old Japanese winger has made people drop their jaws with his staggering football gameplay, due to which there are many clubs in the race to sign him. As Barcelona most probably will fail to get Mitoma, his new team could be another Premier League side.
Some of the prominent leaders currently in the race to sign Mitoma are Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
With the beginning of a new era under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Red Devils have a big plan for the summer transfer market. Ten Hag would like to bring in a new winger to strengthen the attack and it would also add pressure on Garnacho, Rashford, and Anthony, hoping it brings the best out of them.
Liverpool could lose their most important player, Mo Salah, at the end of this season as the Saudi clubs are pushing to sign him by proposing lucrative deals. Last season, Salah refused many offers from the Saudi League, but that might not be the case this summer.
For Arsenal, getting Mitoma will be very beneficial, as it will increase their chances of winning a trophy and also form a young core of players that will benefit them in the future.
Brighton eyeing Mitoma replacement
As Brighton is all set to start a bidding war between clubs for Kaoru Mitoma, they have already signed his replacement. Brighton has signed 19-year-old winger Osman Ibrahim from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland for a fee of around £16 million.
The young, talented Osman can play on the left wing, right wing, and also through the middle.
West Ham tried to sign Osman in January but failed to make the deal due to the asking price. Brighton kept an eye on the winger for a while and completed the deal recently. Brighton’s technical director said,” We’re looking forward to the opportunity of working with Ibrahim. He’s a young and exciting prospect, but for now, it’s important that we give him the space to focus fully on Nordsjaelland, where he is having a good season.”
