Manchester United is back in action ahead of their UEFA Champions League matchday 3 fixture against FC Copenhagen. The Red Devils will welcome the Danish club to Old Trafford on Tuesday. Eric ten Hag’s side has returned to the winning track with two consecutive wins in the Premier League.
However, things are completely opposite in the Champions League as the Red Devils are yet to pick a point in this campaign. Ahead of their crucial fixture here’s an update on the United camp.
Manchester United injury report
The Manchester United squad is grappling with a long list of injured players in the camp. Apart from the injury woes, the off-pitch conflict between Jadon Sancho and the manager has further depleted the squad’s depth. Despite these challenges, they have picked themselves up in the last two league matches to prepare for FC Copenhagen.
The five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid remains suspended from the fixture due to his red card sent off in the last match against Galatasaray. Casemiro missed their last league 2-1 win against Sheffield United due to a minor injury though now the Brazilian is training with the team at Carrington.
Spanish left-back Sergio Reguilon is expected to return. He has already missed the last five matches due to a hamstring injury. The other key names that are sidelined due to injury problems include Tyler Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw who are the long-term absentees.
Jadon Sancho remains suspended from playing as the dispute between him and Eric Ten Hag is still not resolved. The good news is that the Red Devils have no fresh injury thus no new addition. The rest of the squad is raring to start in the midweek’s important clash.
Failure in securing 3 points to leave United in dire straits
Manchester United returned to the Champions League competition this season, but things have not gone well since then. They lost their first two matches and are currently placed at the bottom of the table without obtaining a single point in Group A. In the first fixture, they faced a 4-3 away defeat against Bayern, followed by a 3-2 home loss against Galatasaray.
The midweek UCL clash is a must-win game for the Ten Hag side following back-to-back defeats. In order to survive in the competition, another defeat will leave no chance for the English club to progress to the next knockout stage.
