Yesterday’s SmackDown featured one of the most exciting endings to an episode, possibly one of the best closing segments before a Premium Live Event this year. The build-up to this edition of SmackDown was highly promising, with the brand’s most popular superstars, John Cena and LA Knight facing The Bloodline.
With John Cena’s weekly appearances, the ratings and attendance have been as high as ever in the absence of Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns. But the show closed out with even more star power appearing from the red brand.
WWE SmackDown goes off air with babyfaces standing tall
LA Knight and Jimmy Uso squared off in the main event of SmackDown after the match was officially confirmed following their interaction earlier in the show. This match turned out to be relatively short, as Solo Sikoa interfered, attacking LA Knight, and Jimmy Uso also joined in after losing the match via disqualification. John Cena then made his entrance, coming to LA Knight’s rescue and return the favor from the previous week.
The Judgement Day had been lingering around in SmackDown as they’re the Undisputed Tag Team Champions which allows them to be on both the brands. They came out with JD McDonagh as The Bloodline and The Judgement Day agreed to work together.
It was 7v2 for a brief moment before Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes came out in an attempt to even out the numbers. This felt like a glance into the future with a potential Wargames match between the two sides at Survivor Series. SmackDown went off-air with the 4 babyfaces standing tall after overpowering The Judgement Day. JD McDonagh was unlucky yet again with him eating finishers from each wrestler of the babyface team.
8-man tag team match takes place off air
The fans at St. Louis, Missouri got to experience a dark match between John Cena, LA Knight, Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso battled against Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa in an 8-Man Tag-Team match after SmackDown went off air. This was also the first time Jey Uso went up against Jimmy Uso after quitting WWE.
The team of babyfaces came out on top of the match and clips have been circulating around the internet. It truly was one of the hottest endings to a SmackDown episode with the WWE Universe getting to witness a battle between the biggest babyfaces and heels of the company and SmackDown seems very promising after a stacked lineup was announced for next week.
Tomorrow is going to be very exciting with WWE Fastlane airing live from Indiana. Would you like to see a traditional Survivor Series Elimination match between the two teams? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments.
