This season didn’t end in any satisfactory way for the Dallas Mavericks, and it certainly didn’t end well for center Christian Wood, as the rumors suggest he won’t be re-signed next season.
Christian started his professional career with the Philadelphia 76ers after going undrafted in 2015. After that, he struggled to get settled with any team as he changed franchises in the next four years. Finally, he was able to show his ability with the Houston Rockets which propelled him to land in Dallas in 2022.
His recent tweet fueled the fire of speculation that he is leaving the franchise after this season’s failure.
What did Christian Wood tweet?
The 27-year-old couldn’t contribute much to the team, and the Mavericks now consider the price they paid to bring him on board not worth it. The Mavericks had to trade four players and a draft right for him, but eventually, it didn’t end well.
Following the recent development, the center tweeted a farewell message to the fans, and now his departure seems almost inevitable. “I want to thank everyone and mavs fans especially for there support this season. Dallas has a special place in my heart, Back to the grind,” he tweeted.

Previously, the Mavericks owner indicated their intention of not bringing Wood back by refusing to comment. Furthermore, NFL insider Marc Stein claimed the Mavericks decided to let him go in the summer free agency.

The 6.9-footer scored an average of 16.6 points with 7.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game in 67 appearances this season. He only started 17 games out of those 67 and held an average of 25.9 minutes per game.
After a couple of improving seasons in Houston, this sudden downgrade nudged the franchise to go for a better option for the next season. They are going to restructure the roster and are more focused on re-signing star Kyrie Irving at the moment.
