McLaren to resurrect Chrome Livery back for British GP: Examining the previous appearance of the iconic Google-McLaren partnership centerpiece

McLaren has always stunned us with their innovative and beautiful-looking Liveries, whether the Miami Livery or the Chrome Livery. Fans love to see it, as do the drivers and the F1 community. McLaren has announced they will bring their chrome livery back on July 7-9 at the British Grand Prix.

They announced the same through Twitter by releasing a very aesthetically pleasing video introducing the car shown in Chrome Livery. F1 and McLaren fans have loved this update and are looking forward to seeing the car in action at Silverstone.

McLaren to bring back iconic Chrome Livery for British GP

McLaren racing team has revealed a striking livery for the British GP, a throwback to the chrome colours seen on the car in the early 2000s. This design is part of the team’s 60th-anniversary celebrations, which were previously seen in Monaco and Spain.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the design pays homage to the livery from 2006 to 2014. This period featured race triumphs for Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Heikki Kovalainen, and Jenson Button. McLaren widely utilises the start of Google’s Chrome browser as part of their sponsorship agreement. Hamilton won his championship in 2008, and so did Chrome as they started their operations.

“It’s no secret that racing fans love McLaren’s classic chrome livery. Google Chrome wanted to bring back elements of this iconic livery to celebrate our team’s history at the British Grand Prix, and we’re excited to be able to give our fans what they want. I’m sure this livery will bring back great memories for many of our fans, and I can’t wait to see it out on track at our home race.” said McLaren CEO Zak Brown.

Who adorned the F1 livery in the model’s debut edition?

Every racing fan who used to follow the 2008 season knew whatever was said and done about McLaren; they had the coolest-looking car on the grid. Lando Norris, a McLaren driver, stated that he was a young child when he got into watching F1, and he just supported the car that looked the coolest, McLaren, with its Chrome Livery.

The shiny Chrome Livery is considered one of the best Liveries ever seen in the sport. It garnered attention and served as a good memory for the maiden championship win for Lewis Hamilton.
