While growing up in Cary, North Carolina, Grayson Allen’s wife attended Cardinal Gibbons High School, where she excelled in both soccer and basketball. There, she was a four-year letter winner and a two-time team MVP in soccer, guiding her team to the 2013 State Championship.

Reid attended Duke University, where she played as a defender for the Blue Devils’ women’s soccer team from 2014 to 2017. During her time at Duke, she made 92 appearances and helped the team secure a school-record 18 shutouts in her senior year.

The North Carolina Courage selected Morgan in the 2018 NWSL Draft after she graduated from college. Although she didn’t play in official games, she joined two friendlies. 

She also won the 2018 Women’s International Champions Cup with the team. Then, the Orlando Pride traded her in April 2019, and on May 11, 2019, she made her professional debut.

Why did she retire from soccer?

It was a big moment when Morgan Reid joined Orlando Pride, making her dream come true as a rookie. Sadly, a hip injury cut her journey short, causing her to miss the 2020 season.

Then, in November 2022, Morgan announced her retirement from pro soccer due to severe hip pain. Even after retiring, she remains a supportive wife to Grayson Allen and stays active in the sports world.

About her injury, Morgan said, “I accepted the state of my body as my new normal. They couldn’t find anything definitively wrong with my hip, even though my physical capabilities were 20% of what they were before preseason 2020.”

Grayson Allen and his wife, Morgan Reid, are overjoyed with the arrival of their first child, a baby girl named Emslie May. She was born on October 26, 2024, at 5:14 p.m. 

The couple first surprised fans with the pregnancy news on July 10 through an Instagram post. Grayson couldn’t contain his excitement, sharing how thrilled they both were to welcome their newborn into the world.
