Two years after their tunnel fight, Mi State vs Michigan’s rivalry flared up again as their recent game ended in a field brawl. Michigan sealed a 24-17 win, but the post-game tension turned the victory into a disappointing clash.
Tension started with an argument between Michigan’s Colston Loveland and Michigan State’s Anthony Jones. More players joined, and it became chaotic as the Wolverines rushed onto the field. Michigan State nearly tied the game in the last minutes but lost 24-17, marking Michigan’s third close win in a row in this rivalry.
Physical clashes aren’t new for these rivals; in 2022, an altercation erupted in the locker room tunnel after Michigan’s 29-7 win, and two of their players were assaulted as coach Jim Harbaugh said. The event led to the suspension of eight athletes from Michigan State University.
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore shared his thoughts on the fight. He said, “That’s not how we represent our program and this university. That’s uncalled for. That’ll be dealt with and handled, but that’s just very disappointing that our football team was a part of that.”
Colston Loveland on Mi State vs Michigan post-game tension
Following the intense brawl of Mi State vs Michigan, Wolverines tight end Colston Loveland addressed the post-game tension in an interview with the Big Ten Network. Loveland was involved in a heated exchange with Michigan State’s Anthony Jones.
He commented on the incident, saying, “So, MSU, they’re little bro. They can do whatever they want. We know it’s going to get chippy, but everything within the confines of the game we do right. And then after, if they wanna get busy, we’ll get busy.”
