Michael Chandler’s reaction to Conor McGregor fight confirmation cannot be more misleading

After Conor McGregor’s recent announcement confirming his highly anticipated comeback bout against Michael Chandler, the three-time Bellator Lightweight Champ, Chandler, took to X and made vague remarks regarding the same, making MMA fans still question the legitimacy of Conor’s announcement.

Having teased the bout since early summer 2023, the UFC has never made any details about the matchup official. Already having participated in multiple face-offs, none of the fighters have revealed any official dates either.

In a post made to X (formerly Twitter), Chandler reacted to Conor’s announcement on ESPN by making sarcastic and vague remarks about the details of the fight.

“I’m not sure I’ll be ready for a summer fight…this came out of the blue…I’ve been out of the loop. Can y’all ask Dana to confirm this?’ tweeted Michael Chandler, confusing MMA fans all over about the legitimacy of the fight.

Michael also acknowledged fans who called out Michael for trolling people online, saying that they also know that Michael is making sarcastic tweets.

Michael Chandler also followed to acknowledge tweets that quoted Michael’s words, saying, ‘Michael Chandler is always ready for anybody’.

“Chandler by however he wants,” tweeted Chandler, replying to a fan asking how they anticipate the bout will go.

Conor McGregor provides spoilers for Michael Chandler fight

In an interview with ESPN MMA, Conor McGregor, ahead of his Hollywood debut with Roadhouse, revealed to fans that the necessary paperwork and calls have been made and that his comeback against Michael Chandler is confirmed.

Conor then also proceeded to announce that the fight could potentially be as early as June, as Conor wants to go at it a second time this year against Nate Diaz, which would also put an end to “The Notorious” contract with the UFC.

Conor has also expressed his will to want to sign back with the UFC, talking about his love for the company and what it has done for his career, but also told ESPN that he has no idea when he would resign or how that would go forward.

Discussing the weight class Conor anticipates making a return to, the Irish Champion expressed that he is unsure.

“The last time I hopped on the scale was at a UFC event, so I would have to check and recalibrate…” expressed McGregor, acknowledging that the callout made to Michael Chandler at 185 lbs was also in good humour and Conor wasn’t very serious.

The fight is also expected to take place in Nevada, McGregor shared.
