Michael Irvin files $100 million lawsuit on woman who accused legend of misconduct removing him from NFL Network’s Super Bowl week coverage

Michael Irvin has been removed from ESPN’s Super Bowl broadcast following a report of an incident with a lady in an Arizona hotel lobby. Irvin will no longer appear in the network’s Super Bowl LVII coverage. Irvin is now fighting back by suing that unidentified woman for $100 million.

Following the filing of the complaint, NFL Network removed Irvin from all Super Bowl coverage this week. It’s still unclear what happened during the interaction, but NFL Media confirmed that Irvin was removed from its Super Bowl coverage.

Despite the fact that the NFL Network did not provide any specifics about the incident, Irvin has been busy telling his side of the story. The three-time Super Bowl champion is confused why he is being penalized. According to Irvin, he spoke briefly with a woman at the Renaissance on Sunday, but the entire interaction lasted less than a minute.

“Honestly, I’m a bit baffled with it all,” Irvin said. “This all happened in a 45-second conversation in the lobby. When I got back after going out … I came into the lobby, and I talked to somebody. I talked to this girl. I don’t know her, and I talked to her for about 45 seconds.”

Irvin claims that the hotel where he was staying devised a plan to make him the next victim of “cancel culture” for something that he says never happened.  Irvin filed the lawsuit on Thursday afternoon.

“Rash and thoughtless actions can have severe consequences. Marriott apparently did not appreciate these simple truths when, in a rush to Judgment, its employees and management inaccurately and inflammatorily accused Mr. Irvin of misconduct to the National Football League,” the lawsuit reads.

The employee’s first allegation that Irvin “casually exchanged pleasantries” with her, “shook her hand, and went to his room alone,” according to the investigation, was supported by witnesses.

However, after learning about the allegations, Irvin and his team claim they tried to provide the Renaissance Hotel with witness testimonies in order to clear up any misunderstandings, but the hotel refused.

It will be fascinating to see how this incident affects Irvin’s career, given he is one of the most popular sports figures on television.
