Mike Tyson unexpectedly praises UFC superstar Conor McGregor in loss vs Floyd Mayweather in boxing match

Mike Tyson, a legendary boxer, has often spoken positively about Conor McGregor, a superstar in the UFC. Surprisingly, Tyson has praised McGregor for his loss in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather, who is also considered sporting royalty. Conor is famous for his successful career in the UFC. He is a two-weight champion and the most well-known fighter on the roster.

He took on Floyd in a crossover bout in the boxing ring and managed to last ten rounds before being stopped. Despite the loss, McGregor considered it a significant achievement since it was his first professional boxing appearance. The fight became the second highest-selling combat sports pay-per-view event of all time.

However, Tyson suggests that people overlook McGregor’s achievements when assessing the fight.

Mike Tyson and McGregor: An Unexpected Bond

“[McGregor] never really had a boxing match in his life right?” Tyson said in a recent Hotboxing episode said when discussing the lucrative showdown between McGregor and Mayweather. “He went 10 rounds with the greatest fighter in the last 100 years of boxing.

“He went 10 rounds, scored punches on the greatest fighter in the last 20 years — 100 years. See, people ain’t looking at it. People just wanna say ‘The Black guy beat the White guy.’ They just want to see it. But look at what he had to fight against. And look at what he did when he fought against it.”

McGregor had a promising start to the fight that won over the fans in the arena. But he failed to make much progress against his opponent, who eventually stepped up and finished the fight with two rounds left. McGregor, who had won two titles in the UFC, moved to boxing but has since experienced a decline in form, winning only one of his last four fights in the cage.
