Milwaukee Bucks Celebrates Long-Awaited NBA Cup Victory

The Milwaukee Bucks won their first NBA Cup, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 97-81 on Tuesday night. This big win is a huge moment for the team and a great answer to critics who doubted the coach after the team’s slow start this season.

The media had criticized the Milwaukee Bucks and head coach Doc Rivers for their slow start to the season, with a 2-8 record. But they overcame those challenges, and now, after winning the NBA Cup, they have a much better 15-11 record, which deserves praise.

However, before the game, former NBA star Patrick Beverley responded to the critics and praised the team’s recent efforts, saying, “I haven’t heard any Doc Rivers slander at all lately. I hear zero talk about the Milwaukee Bucks and how they’re not good.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the tournament MVP, led the team with 26 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists. Damian Lillard added 23 points, and they made 17 three-pointers. The game was tough, with the Thunder leading early, but the team pulled off a close win with just a four-point lead at the end.

How much did Bucks players earn after the NBA Cup win?

The Milwaukee Bucks’ win in the 2024 NBA Cup led to a big bonus for the players. Each player on the team received $514,971 for the win. Players on two-way contracts, like Liam Robbins, Ryan Rollins, and Stanley Umude, got $257,485 each.

For prominent players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, this compensation pales in comparison to their typical earnings. But for the lower-paid players, it’s a nice raise.

After taxes in Wisconsin, which include 28% in federal tax, 4.08% for FICA, and 6.08% for state tax, the players will take home $317,168 each.
