Patrick Beverley made headlines in the NBA community after he made some really bold comments on The Pat Bev Podcast. The 35-year-old openly stated that Mo Bamba was ‘one of the whitest black guys’ in the league, sparking controversy.

This led to Bamba expressing his thoughts in response, especially considering their history as former teammates on the Philadelphia 76ers.

Bamba learned about Beverley’s comments during a podcast and openly questioned why Beverley included him in his remarks. Bamba shared insights from his background to explain why he didn’t think he belonged on Beverley’s list.

Bamba expressed his thoughts on social media, stating: “Alright, I got time today,” Bamba wrote, via his X account. “I’m a top 5 black-white guy because I can properly articulate how I feel & how I see things?”

“You a smart man, do your research. I’m not a gangsta to any capacity but I’m born & raised from Harlem. I made it off the block & out the trenches.”

He highlighted his ability to express himself effectively and pointed out that despite not fitting certain stereotypes, he hails from Harlem and has overcome challenges to succeed.

“Secondly, sitting there with your legs crossed like that… & asking your white co host to publicly question my blackness is one of the reasons why it’s hard to move the culture forward.”

Bamba also criticized Beverley’s behavior during the podcast, particularly his stance, and requested that Bamba’s identity be questioned. Beverley has not responded to Bamba’s comments yet, but history shows he’s reconciled with former teammates after disagreements.

Interestingly, Beverley and Bamba were part of a trade-in 2023, swapping teams. Bamba moved from the Magic to the Lakers, while Beverley initially joined the Magic before ending the season with the Bulls.
