Injuries have been increasing in recent years in world football and they have already reached such disastrous levels that now each and every player, irrespective of their healthy lifestyle, has become prone to injuries. These huge numbers of injury cases were initially seen in on-the-rise youngsters, with the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Vinicius Junior, and Erling Haaland already affected by them.
These injuries just affect every team’s combinations on a greater level and the team starts securing bad results during this period, with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur being prime examples. One of these players could now be Liverpool’s ace Mohamed Salah, whose injury could be a really painful blow for both his club and country.
Salah’s hamstring woes raise concerns for Liverpool’s title push
Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah got a hamstring injury during the ongoing AFCON Cup while playing for his country, Egypt. Though it was initially reported as a minor blow by the Egyptian doctors after the first test, recent tests at Liverpool have stated the injury to be more severe than before mentioned and that the start forward could nearly miss up to four weeks, according to some reports.
This could be a really painful injury for the Reds as this could mean that the forward, who is usually known to have luck against injuries, is set to miss important upcoming matches for the club. Although the forward was supposed to miss the club’s matches until February 15th due to the AFCON Cup initially, it still wouldn’t feel any less disappointing for them as he might be absent for even longer now due to injury.
It’s a fact that Liverpool do have Mohamed Salah’s replacement in Dominik Szoboszlai already in line, so they might not need him right now that much, but they are still certain to miss him because no one else could provide the quality upfront that he could. But the team that is absolutely going to miss him and needs him the most right now is Egypt and their hopes of winning the AFCON Cup might already be diminishing.
Egypt’s star forward likely to miss crucial Africa Cup of Nations matches
Egyptian star Mohamed Salah might already be furious with himself after getting injured during the currently ongoing AFCON Cup. Egypt could not have been dealt a more serious blow than this. Their only hope to win the AFCON this year was the star winger, who has been top-notch for both club and country.
His injury has already saddened many fans and many players on the team have also been dismissed after it. In fact, his Egyptian teammate Ahmed Hassan got so frustrated with Salah’s injury that he even went on to state that even though Salah got injured, he should have stayed with the team and undergone his recovery there to fulfill his responsibility as the captain of the national side.
“He is the captain. He should stay with the team no matter what, even if he only had one to stand on.”
Currently, the Egypt National team captain has gone back to Merseyside to undergo rehabilitation and will try to be fit as fast as possible. With Egypt qualifying out of the group stage with a draw yesterday night, Salah has a chance of making it back to the national team after getting fit.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the injury is more serious than first thought but there is a chance of the Egyptian participating again in the AFCON Cup if his rehabilitation in the UK is successful and Egypt goes deep into the knockout rounds.
It would be interesting to see how far the Egypt national team can go without their captain and legend, Mohamed Salah. Whether they are able to maintain themselves in the cup until his return or he is able to finish his rehabilitation successfully before time to rejoin his side at AFCON again remains to be seen, and hopefully that is what we see.
