Months after $260 million Ravens deal, Lamar Jackson tipped by NFL analyst to steal MVP honors from Patrick Mahomes

Star QB Patrick Mahomes had been named NFL MVP for his heroics as he led the Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl last season. Fans and analysts expect Mahomes to return for an equally dazzling campaign, but one particular NFL analyst feels otherwise.

Just as capable, Lamar Jackson has had a career defining campaign with the Ravens and NFL analyst Stephen A. Smith has high praise for the player.

Stephen A. Smith predicts Lamar Jackson as MVP player

In his show “First Take”, Smith has named his own favorites for potential MVP suggestions for the coming season. One of them happens to be Lamar Jackson, Raven’s Quarterback who is the first player in NFL history to surpass 250 yards and rushing 120 yards all in one game.

On his show on Monday, Smith urged that Jackson has a high chance of winning NFL MVP and could take away the title from Chiefs Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes won his second career NFL MVP and his second Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl LVII. Whether Lamar Jackson will be able to live up to Stephen A. Smith’s predictions, remains to be seen.

Lamar Jackson inks record breaking $260 million contract

Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson had signed a five-year $260 million contract renewal with the Baltimore Ravens. The new deal will see him earn $52 million per year for the next 5 years. This makes him the highest paid QB in the league.

The new contract has $185,000,000 guaranteed at signing and came with a massive signing bonus of $72,500,000. Lmar Jackson’s contract renewal binds him until the end of the 2027 season and he will become an unrestricted free agent in 2028.

“For the last few months, there has been a lot of he said, she said,” Jackson commented on his contract renewal. “But for the next five years, it’s a lot of ‘flock’ going on.”. Clearly the Ravens QB has no intention of moving elsewhere anytime soon and want to lead his team to a possible Super Bowl glory in the new season.

The Quarterback plays his first NFL game of the season against the Houston Texans on Sunday, 10th September.

Let’s see if Smith’s prediction becomes a success. What are your MVP predictions for the new season? Share your take in the comments.
