David Beckham is a family man, but there was a time when the English international chose fame over family. In a recent Netflix documentary, Victoria Beckham talked about how she felt when David almost missed the birth of their son due to a photoshoot.
Victoria’s reaction to David Beckham’s photoshoot
On February 20, 2005, David and Victoria welcomed their third son, Cruz Beckham, into the world. The couple cherishes their child, but there is a story behind his birth. Victoria remembers that David Beckham almost missed the birth of their son due to a photo shoot with two of the most famous celebrities in the world, namely Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce, while his wife was at the hospital.
She saw the photos after her delivery, and the model/actress said she was “pissed off” seeing her husband between two gorgeous women. “So, I had my C-section, and I remember lying there; I don’t feel at my most gorgeous, let’s just say, and I remember someone showing me the front page of the newspaper, which was a gorgeous picture of David between Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé,” she explained. “And the headline was, ‘What would Posh say?’”
Beckham’s son Brooklyn faced kidnapping threats
The couple had a rough time after the birth of their first son, Brooklyn. David Beckham was constantly receiving hate from the public due to receiving a red card in the World Cup. Some even went so far as to issue kidnapping threats against the couple, which put them under a lot of stress and anxiety. Victoria recalls feeling helpless because they were extremely famous and couldn’t hide. ‘I mean, you can’t even explain how that feels because we couldn’t hide,” she said.
David Beckham himself was also freaking out. He was worried about his son’s safety and wanted to protect him at all costs. “The moment he (Brooklyn Beckham) came out, I all of a sudden thought, ‘How am I going to protect him?’” David remembered.
The British athlete refused to sleep on the bed with his wife and slept in front of the hospital door instead, as he was paranoid that somebody was going to steal his baby. The couple has seen their share of rough days, but things are going well now, and hopefully, it will remain like this.
