A four-and-a-half-hour-long rollercoaster ride is the best way to describe what the Wimbledon finals match was for everyone who watched it. The two most soaring players, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz went up against each other on the tricky grass surface. The level of hunger and fierce aggression from both sides in this epic battle showed great mental fortitude from both sides.
While this was a dream for Carlos Alcaraz, Novak was on a conquest and had a lot at stake in this match. The match was truly not over until it was over because anyone could take the win at any second. So, when the 20-year-old was edging him out, a meltdown was sure to come.
Djokovic smashes racket at Wimbledon 2023 final
After a very smooth first set, Carlos seemed to have gotten his groove as he started hitting the most unfathomable winners and returns. The tables turned and Nole was not having it. With his forehands and serves not up to his usual mark, the legend was struggling to save his serves.
There were a lot of factors that seemed to be getting on Novak’s edge. Firstly, a very deserving time violation from the chair umpire got to him. Other than this, the breeze, the crowd booing, and his young opponent’s merciless winners kept building up.
Novak Djokovic still made sure to show his exemplary tennis brilliance and experience to surmount the kid. However, when Nole lost a point in the fifth deciding set, he lost it. He went rammed his racket into the net pole. The crowd immediately started booing at him which probably made it worse for the reigning champ.

In the end, no matter how amazing it is to watch the rise of a new age, it was devastating to watch Novak Djokovic tear up after his defeat at the Wimbledon final.
This isn’t the first time Novak Djokovic has been so overt with his anger and frustration. In fact, he has received a lot of criticism over the years for them.
Djokovic frustrated with umpireâs wrong decision at Monte Carlo Masters
Just a few months back, in the Monte Carlo Masters the Serbinator smashed his racket. He played against the young Italian Lorenzo Musetti in the second set. Here, Novak engaged in a very heated argument with the line judge. While he was very sure that the ball was out, the line umpire stood firmly by her judgment and kept saying no. Even as Nole tried to explain and the crowd started booing, she was not taking her stance back.
Immediately after this, Novak was proven right but the frustration about the umpire’s mistake was not gone. As he was walking to his bench, he smashed his spare racket with his leg.
